Combined heat and power Electricity from renewable energy could secure the supply of energy in the future. However, the sun does not always shine and wind speed is not constant. The result is that not enough electrical energy is generated. This deficit can be compensated by centrally managed combined heat and power plants. One of the basic problems when electricity is generated is that too much energy is wasted. The principle of combined heat and power (CHP) (or cogeneration) can be used to improve energy efficiency. This technology converts up to 90% of the fuel used into useful energy and quite simply means that both electricity and heat are generated simultaneously. ► Diesel hybrid heat and power unit (centralized and de-centralized) ► Gaz hybrid heat and power unit (centralized and de-centralized)
